The Wiligrad Castle

Schloss Wiligrad bei Schwerin

Situated on the west shore of lake Schweriner See, Schloss Wiligrad appears like and enchanted castle. It was built in 1896 by duke Johann Albrecht of Mecklenburg and now houses a renowned art association. Its new purpose brought the sumptuous castle back to life, catering for modern art exhibitions  and various special events. In the surrounding gardens visitors can admire sculptures by German and international artists and wander along the meandering paths of the castle park. Additionally, a 2.5 kilometres long walking trail leads you from the village Lübstorf to Wiligrad. It is named after the grandduke, and along the way you will see big marble vases, old cairn graves and the monument of Friedrich Franz.
