Kaninchenwerder Island

This wooded island, a nature reserve in the middle of lake Schweriner See, is a popular destination for small walking tours and picnics. There you will find a lookout tower where you can overlook the lakes, countryside and skyline of Schwerin. You can easily reach Kaninchenwerder by your own boat or on board of the Weiße Flotte, departing from the pier at the Palace. When the winter in Schwerin is particularly icy and the lake is completely frozen, many take the opportunity and walk across the ice to the island.
