This archaeological open air museum displays an entire excavated village of the 10th century and is a fascinating destination for all ages. It is located on the headland of a lake near the town of Sternberg where the ruins of an old Slavonic temple have been discovered. The big rampart and many houses inside, all dating from the 9th and 10th century, have been carefully excavated, reconstructed and opened to visitors. This way it is possible to understand the life of the Slavonic tribes in all its detail. In the museum itself there are various archaeological findings on display: pottery, agricultural and domestic tools, as well as writing utensils and jewellery. Guided tours can be booked on request. If you register as a group or school class you will get the opportunity to bake bread and flat dough-cake according to the old traditions, to mould beads out of clay and decorate them, and many other activities.
