If you want to leave your car at home and still enjoy the beauty of nature around the lake Schweriner See you should try a trip on the Bus Route 100. It goes past blooming meadows, fragrant fields and gleaming lakes and shows Mecklenburg at its best. Small villages, rural churches and former manor houses merge perfectly into the picture and let the past century come alive again. It runs five times a day, from May until 5 October, seven days a week. The tour starts at Schwerin’s central station and takes about an hour. On the way, the bus makes 24 stops where you can get on or off as you like, as long as you have got your day ticket with you. That way you are able to spend your holiday according to your personal tastes, following your own interests and schedule. You can even combine the bus with a bike tour and take up to five bikes onto the bus for free. The idyllic scenery offers tranquility and a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The best bus stop to alight at and start a tour on foot probably is Raben Steinfeld. You can go anywhere from there: past the ruins of an old castle and the English houses, along the shores of the Schweriner See or Pinnower See or to the “Petersberg”, where our castle ghost the “Petermännchen” lives. Or you can follow the archaeological trail through the “Glasmoor” marshes. The trail starts at the nature preservation centre in Kritzow, which also offers guided tours. But if you are looking for a more active adventure, you should get off the bus in Vorbeck, where you can either hire a boat, visit riding stables or play golf at a 27-hole course. Additionally there are various cafés and restaurants along the way to refresh and restore you. For more information on this bus tour please contact our staff at the Tourist Information Centre.
